A free, local-only GPS trip recorder. Tap Start new trip, pocket your phone, and Trip Tracker logs your route, walks, drives, hikes, rides, then exports a clean GPX file. Recorded and stored on your phone, with no account and no server of ours.
How it works
Tap Start new trip. Trip Tracker logs your route in the background while you walk, drive, hike, or ride. Stop when you're done, your trip lands in the list, drawn on a map, ready to share as a GPX file you can keep, load into another map app, or hand off.
Trips live in files on your phone, and the finished GPX is saved where you can get at it yourself (the Files app on iPhone, Downloads on Android). Your route only travels when you share it, or into your own cloud storage if you switch on backup. There is no account, and no server of ours ever sees where you have been.

What you get
- Background GPS recording
- Live map while recording, with elapsed time, distance, and the number of points logged
- A "now recording" pill that follows you around the app so you don't lose track
- Tap any trip for a full map and its stats: distance, duration, ascent, points, segments, file size
- Rename or delete any trip, and pick your latest unfinished one back up with Resume
- Trim a saved trip: drag two handles along a full-screen timeline while the map shows exactly what you'll keep
- Read a multi-day trip a day at a time, or switch back to the whole route
- GPX export via the system share sheet, works with any app that accepts GPX
- Tune accuracy vs battery, pick how often the app samples your location
- Sort your trips by date, name, distance, duration, or size
- Standard, Hybrid, or Satellite map
- Metric or imperial, distance and elevation in your units
- Optional place names for where a trip started and ended, and an optional hello when a recording trip crosses into another country. Both off until you turn them on
- Optional backup, your trips safe if you lose or swap your phone: iCloud Drive on iPhone, or a folder you pick on Android, which works with Drive, Dropbox, or anything else that syncs a folder
